Unlike the very romantic waltz, where the man provides a frame within which the woman is even more beautiful, in chess, the queen is the most powerful piece on the board and her every move, whether in defence or attack, must be always to protect her king. The meaning of 'ezer kenegdo' lies much closer to 'life saver'... than the 'help meet' we have always been led to believe.
